Lot No. TT14893-145 / Early 1950s Style Acetate Quilted Souvenir Jacket “DRAGON” × “JAPAN MAP”

今回ご紹介するTAILOR TOYO（テーラー東洋）2021年秋冬モデルの新作は、日本に駐留している米海軍の基地内で1950年代初期に販売されていたヴィンテージを再現したもの。富士山の麓を龍が舞う絵柄だが、このように天から地へ舞い降りるように描かれた構図は珍しい。リバーシブル面は、米軍基地の所在地や主要都市の地名が刺繍された日本地図の絵柄。スカジャンのモチーフとしては珍しい枝垂桜も共に描かれている。

A reproduction of the vintage souvenir jacket sold in the early 1950s in the US Navy bases in Japan. Although the artwork depicts a dragon dancing at the foot of Mt. Fuji, it is rare to see a dragon flying down from heaven to earth. The artwork on reversible side is a map of Japan embroidered with the locations of U.S. military bases and the names of major cities. The garnished Shidare-zakura (weeping cherry tree) is also rare as a motif of Sukajan.
